Bessie L. Smith, 78, of Norfolk, died Sept. 7, 1996, in Sentara Bayside Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born in Currituck, N.C., and was a Protestant. She was a housewife and the widow of Lloyd Milton Smith.
Survivors include a son, Marvin L. Smith of Norfolk; a brother, Melvin Everton of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Mark Smith and Brian Smith, both of Florida, and Diane Geddes of Alaska; three great-grandchildren, Johnny Smith of Florida, Brandon Geddes and Alissa Geddes of Alaska.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
