BLANCHE W. CORDREY

Blanche W. Cordrey, 91, formerly of the 500 block of Woodford St., died Sept. 9, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.

A native of Florence, S.C., she was the widow of Alfred E. Cordrey as well as her first husband, Sanders R. McDaniel Sr. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and its Women's Circle.

Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Joyner of Lake City, Fla., Edith Edwards of Andrews, S.C., Marlena Ruby of Virginia Beach, Arlene Fly of Norfolk and Dawn Sturgeon of Chesapeake; a son, Lawrence S. McDaniel Sr. of Norfolk; a stepdaughter, Kitty Creel of Florence, S.C.; and a stepson, Marcus Cordrey of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by a sister, Marie Pace of Olanta, S.C.; two brothers, Thomas Windham of Darlington, S.C. and Henry Windham of Augusta, Maine; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Sanders R. McDaniel Jr. and a stepson, Cecil Cordrey.

A funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Frances Moody. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times will be at 6267 Taylor Drive, Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, or to the Audubon Society or to a charity of choice.
