Joseph Edward ``Jack'' Williams, 84, of 17487 First St., died Sept. 8, 1996, at home.
Mr. Williams was born in Portsmouth, but was a lifelong resident of Sedley. He was the son of the late Robert Cooper and Beaulah Moore Williams and the widower of Frances Collier Williams. Mr. Williams was a Navy veteran of World War II. A retired contractor, he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Sedley Hunt Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Frances Ann Creasey; a son, Thomas Edward Williams, both of Sedley; three sisters, Edna Saunders of Franklin, Virginia Hancock of Sedley and Mildred Barrett of Alexandria; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rosemont Cemetery with the Rev. James Smith, the Rev. David Dillon and the Rev. David Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence, following the service, in the fellowship hall of Grace United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 73, Sedley, Va. 23878 or the Sedley Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 89, Sedley, Va. 23878. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
