John C. Jackobs, 85, formerly of Superior, Wis., and Winter Garden, Fla., died Aug. 30, 1996, at Marian Manor Nursing Home, Virginia Beach.
Born in Shell Lake, Wis., he was a steamfitter in the ore mines at Hibbing, Minn., and during World War II he was employed at Fraser Shipyards in Superior, Wis. He was then employed with National Valve Co. as a steamfitter on large construction projects throughout the U.S. and overseas.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Manno, and her husband, Fran, of Chesapeake, Nancy McCarty, and her husband, Walter, of Westport, Maine, Kay Colbert, and her husband, Jim, of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; two sons, John Jackobs, and his wife, Miriam of Cincinatti, Ohio, and Steven Jackobs, and his wife, Betty, of Austin, Texas; a brother, Joseph Jackobs of Urbana, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, on March 1, 1984; his parents; and a brother, Les Jackobs.
A funeral will be held Oct. 5 at United Methodist Church in Shell Lake, Wis. Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapek, Chippewa Falls, is handling the arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
