MMCS David L. Moore Jr., U.S. Navy (ret.), 57, of the 3800 block of Long Point Blvd., died Sept. 6, 1996, in Naval Regional Medical Center, Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy as an (E-8) senior chief after 20 years and also retired after 14 years as a surveyor. Born in Lancaster County, S.C., he was a former member of Grier Heights Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Moore of Portsmouth; two daughters, Babette Stoutmire of San Diego and Danita Williamson of Portsmouth; mother, Frances R. Moore of Philadelphia; father, David L. Moore Sr. of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters, Vera Russell and Delores Foster of Philadelphia, Joan Whitelaw of Goose Creek, S.C., and Phyllis Pollock of Odenton, Md.; a brother, Julius Wayne Moore of Virginia Beach; a grandchild, Brittany Stoutmire of Portsmouth; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Lloyd B. Morris in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
