Vernon Lee Morse, 76, born Feb. 3, 1920, passed from this life on Sept. 7, 1996, to be reunited with his wife, Edna Donalds Morse, his son, Wade, and his parents, John and Sally Morse. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Waterfield and Hattie Waterfield.
Mr. Morse, formerly of Charity Neck Road, was born in Norfolk and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed by White-Stewart Oil Co. and Henderson Oil Co. until his retirement.
Survivors included daughters, Sylvia Timmons and husband, Louis; Gloria ``Kitten'' Persinger and husband, Melvin, Sandra Murden and husband, Bill, Rose Morse; son, Donald Ray Morse and wife, Tami; daughter-in-law, Robin Shipp Morse; sister, Mary Guynn; 10 grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews and lots of other family and friends. He will be missed by all.
The services will be held at noon on Wednesday at Beech Grove United Methodist Church on West Neck Road with Rev. Louis A. Timmons officiating. Vernon will be taken to his final rest at Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service and at other times at his home at 541 Harton Circle in Virginia Beach. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
