Mary Blanche Reel, 94, died Sept. 8, 1996. A native of North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Luther Jacob and Absilla Bunch Griffin and the widow of Jesse L. Reel.
She was predeceased by two sons, Jesse W. Reel and Luther Milton Reel. She was a member of Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church for 63 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Reba Johnson of Shenandoah, Sarah Pearson of Lakeland, Fla., Libby Reel of Hampton; four sons, James E. Reel of Shelby, N.C., Gene L. Reel of Matthews, N.C., Terry Reel of Chesapeake, Harold Reel of Salt Springs, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Josephine Brown of Virginia Beach, Emerald Henderson of Richmond, Doris Felton of Atlanta, Jackie Diebler of Forest, Marian Meade of Winterhaven, Fla.
A funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Norwood Starling. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home in Suffolk on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 2111 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
