Russell H. ``Nick'' Rice, died Sept. 10, 1996, in Virginia Beach.
Fondly known as ``DINK'' to family, he was born in Lafayette, Ind., 70 years ago. Retiring after 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, Lt. Col. Rice moved to Virginia Beach in 1971 and was a local merchant. A longstanding member of Wycliff Presbyterian Church, he was also a member of Virginia Beach Masonic Lodge 274 A.F. & A.M. and a past Master.
He is survived by his mother, Frances M. Rice of Richmond, Va.; his wife, Beverly A. Rice of Virginia Beach; two sons, C. Scott Rice of Manakin-Sabot, Chad T. Rice of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Marchelle A. Rice of Virginia Beach; and a grandson, Justin A. Rice of Va. Beach.
A memorial service will be conducted, as well as Masonic rites 3 p.m. Thursday at Wycliff Presbyterian Church, 1445 N. Great Neck Road, Va. Beach. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Laskin Road Chapel are handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
