ANGLERS SEEING SPOTS ON NORTHERN PIERS

Most piers along the northern beaches reported good fishing Tuesday.

A few spot were landed during the morning on Kitty Hawk Pier, but afternoon fishing was slow.

Avalon Pier reported good spot fishing throughout the day. A few keeper gray trout and some bluefish were taken on jiggers.

Fishermen on Nags Head Pier caught spot, a few small bluefish and a few croaker.

Lots of spot were taken from Jennette's Pier during the morning, but fishing was slow in the afternoon.

Spot were landed two at a time during the morning on Outer Banks Pier. Action slowed around low tide, but improved as the tide began to rise in the afternoon.

South of Oregon Inlet, anglers on Rodanthe Pier caught a few croaker, spot, Spanish mackerel and bluefish off and on during the day. A few striped bass were hooked and released.

Some nice croaker, scattered spot and a few bluefish were landed on Avon Pier.

Frisco Pier reported a few nice croaker, spot, small gray trout and keeper flounder landed during the late morning. Fishing was slow in the afternoon.

Surf fishermen found spot fishing to be good along the northern beaches on the incoming tide Tuesday. A few sea mullet and pompano also were taken.

Some big croaker, spot, small gray trout and small bluefish were landed around Oregon Inlet.

Nice croaker, spot and sea mullet were landed by surfcasters from Rodanthe to Buxton.

A few puppy drum were beached by anglers at Cape Point early Tuesday morning. Scattered bluefish and sea mullet were taken during the day.

Fishing was slow along the beach from Frisco to False Point.

Inshore trolling was good around Oregon Inlet, with bluefish and a few Spanish mackerel taken. Headboats in the area caught a few pigfish and sea bass.

Blue water charters fishing northeast of Oregon Inlet above the triple zeros reported quite a few white marlin releases. Quite a few yellowfin tuna were taken at the point. The tuna weighed between 20 and 50 pounds.

Anglers fishing the Gulf Stream off Hatteras landed good catches of dolphin. Quite a few tuna were seen, but few were taken.

The water temperature was 74 degrees Tuesday at the Army Corps of Engineers in Duck, and 79 degrees at Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island. by CNB
