STRAIGHTENING THINGS OUT

ILLUSTRATION: Staff photos by JOHN H. SHEALLY II

An operation to lower the hump over the railroad track on Nansemond

Parkway, right, has finally been completed. While the work was going

on, motorists who normally use the parkway to travel from other

Hampton Roads localities and from northern Suffolk into downtown had

to detour through Driver and up Bennett's Pasture Road to get back

on their original track. The detour added about a quarter of a mile

to the trip. But the detour has been taken down; the hump has been

leveled, and things are back on track, above. by CNB
