The city of Virginia Beach has just lost one more ardent recycler. I recycled before, during and after curbside pickup. I even went so far as to collect some of my neighbors recyclables.
Although I was disheartened by news that the city was dumping paper recyclables in the landfill, I still continued to collect my cans, glass, plastic bags, plastic bottles, etc.
What finally broke my recycling back was the continual overflow of the bins at Salem Middle School.
I refuse to pollute school grounds because my collected materials will not fit in the bins . . . ever. I will try again if the city ever gets its act together, but in the meantime, my recyclables are going in the trash.
