Mr. Howard James ``Jim'' Thompson, 58, of 11341 Fairway Drive, died Tuesday Sept. 10, 1996, at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Marilynn Saunders Thompson; two sons, Kevin Thompson of Norfolk, Greg Thompson of Garden City, S.C.; his mother, Almeda B. Thompson of Washington, Iowa; two sisters, Priscilla Anderson of Comanche, Iowa, and Judi Helsher of Washington.
Born Oct. 10, 1937, in Washington, Jim later served in the U.S. Navy. He was the vice president and director of marketing for the Laurinburg & Southern Railroad. He was also a member of the Laurinburg Rotary Club and was a former board member of the Southern Shortline Association.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church, Laurinburg, officiated by the Rev. Lawrence B. Coleman. Also a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McDougald Funeral Home, Laurinburg.
