REGINALD W. DAVIS SR.

Reginald Waldo Davis Sr., 77, of the 2400 block of Watermill Grove, died Sept. 10, 1996.

Born in Portsmouth, he was a member of St. Mark Episcopal Church, 142 Tynes St., Suffolk. Mr. Davis was choir director, vestry member, senior warden and baritone soloist. He was a choir director for other area churches and was a member of Eureka Club Inc. and Fantome Club Inc., both of Portsmouth. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after more than 25 years of service and also retired as a home school coordinator for Portsmouth Public School System. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Wanetah B. Davis; two daughters, Mildred Gaines of Chesapeake, Connie Fountain of Texarkana, Texas; a son, the Rev. Reginald W. Davis Jr. of Christianburg, Va.; two sisters, Maude D. Click of Portsmouth and Rosa Lee A. Cuffee of Goldens Bridge, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Isaiah Cuffee Jr.; and other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Mark Episcopal Church, Suffolk, by Father Wayne Hodge. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Portsmouth. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
