Jefferson Porter III, son of the late Jefferson Porter Jr. and Julia Barnes Porter, died Sept. 10, 1996, in the Mt. Vernon Hospital, at age 45.
He was a member of the Glen Arden Baptist Church, Landover, Md., and the First Baptist Church, Franklin, Va. In 1968 he graduated from Hayden High School, Franklin, and continued his studies at Norfolk State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in business marketing. Since graduation, he has been employed as district manager for Hardee's and Roy Rogers Food Systems.
He is survived by a daughter, Jessica Porter of Mitchellville, Md.; a sister, Joan M. Clarke of Franklin; two brothers, Ray Porter of Franklin, Todd Porter of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two aunts, Marcella B. Bowers, Marie B. Lewis of Franklin; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Remains will be placed in First Baptist Church, Hall Street, Franklin, for viewing at 11:30 a.m. Friday. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., the Rev. Henry Blunt, officiating. The interment will be in Southview Cemetery, Franklin. The family will assemble at 321 Hall Street for the procession to the church. William M. Johnson & Sons is in charge of arrangements.
