James E. ``Slim'' Gilliam Jr., 41, of the 1200 block of Marshall Ave., died Sept. 8, 1996.
Born in Ahoskie, N.C., he was a self-employed dry-waller.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra C. Gilliam; two daughters, Dominique L. Gilliam, Dynielle P. Heart, both of Portsmouth, Newanda A. Gilliam of North Carolina; a son, Martinis Gilliam; mother, Hattie M. Ward of New York; father, James E. Gilliam Sr. of Bay City, Mich.; three sisters, Hattie Perry, Vera Gilliam, both of Bay City, Maria Gilliam of Washington, D.C.; five brothers, Deon Gilliam, Brandon Gilliam, Charles Gilliam, Malcolm Gilliam, all of Bay City, Anthony Gilliam of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren; stepmother, Minnie Gilliam; five aunts; three uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Ben A. Beamer Sr. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family and friends will assemble at his residence for the procession to the funeral service. Corprew Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
