Blanche C. Massenburg Tompkins died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1996, at DePaul Hospital.
She was born April 30, 1905, in Franklin County, N.C. She loved and cared for her family with great strength and devotion. She was a devoted member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the Wesley Bible class.
Surviving family are sons, Benjamin B. Massenburg and wife, Margie, William E. Massenburg and wife, Charlotte, all of Norfolk; a daughter, Ruby M. Hinson of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a stepson, John Tompkins; and a stepdaughter, Charmion Smith both of Greenville, S.C.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in St. John's United Methodist Church, by the Rev. G. C. Shepherd. Visitation will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 2709 Greendale Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23518. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
