A 33-year-old man is being sought in connection with the stabbing of a former girlfriend and the beating of his daughter, police said.
Just before 4 p.m., Valerie White, 33, and Chanthinia White, 14, returned to their home in the 1600 block of Webber Ave. and were allegedly confronted by the girl's father, Henry T. Edmunds.
Police said Edmunds, who once lived with the woman, allegedly broke into the house to wait for them. When they arrived, he allegedly stabbed her and hit the girl in the head with a metal bar.
When rescue personnel and police arrived, the woman was unconscious. Both victims were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where the woman was in surgery Thursday night. Their conditions were not released.
Edmunds is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a 1986, gold four-door Toyota Camry with Virginia license plates ZLW-8780.
He has no known address but is believed to frequent the Huntersville and Ocean View sections of Norfolk. He faces two counts of malicious wounding and a burglary charge. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 382-6161 or Crime Line at 487-1234.
