Ernest Lewis ``Buddy'' Morris, 73, died Sept. 12, 1996.
Born in Norfolk, Mr. Morris served on active duty during World War II and then served in the U.S. Naval Reserve until his retirement at the rank of chief warrant officer (CW04). A 39-year veteran of government service, he served in and retired from the U.S. Civil Service as a comptroller of the Navy Fleet Accounting and Disbursing Center, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Naval Base, Norfolk. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. He was a member of Naomi Masonic Lodge for 43 years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Ewell (Pat) Morris; daughters, Irene Perry of Irvine, Calif., and Lynne Barber of Aiken, S.C.; two sons, Capt. Ernest Lewis Morris Jr., U.S. Navy, of Woodbridge, Va. and Lt. Cmdr. Gary Wayne Morris, U.S. Navy, of Dahlgren, Va.; two sisters, Eva May Gregory and Ardis Alethia Emanuelson; two brothers, Robert L. Morris and James E. Morris; and nine wonderful grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Community United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach, by Dr. G. Keith Almond. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the National Cancer Institute Gift Fund, Radiation/Oncology Branch, NCI Budget Office, Bldg. 31, Rm. 11A16, Bethesda, Md., 20892. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge.
