LANGHORNE D. MOTLEY

Langhorne Dandridge Motley, 82, of the 200 block of Broad St., died Sept. 11, 1996, in Danville, Va.

Mr. Motley was born in Portsmouth. He was a retired chief planner and estimator for Shop 31, the Inside Machine Shop, and later promoted to general foreman for Shop 31 at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was an active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Woodruth Towler Motley; daughter, Woodruth ``Woodie'' Morgan and her husband, Thomas ``Tommy'' Jackson Morgan of Virginia Beach; a sister, Frances Motley Cross of Midlothian, Va.; two brothers, William Robert Motley Jr., Ryland Clay Motley, both of Portsmouth; grandsons, Dr. Thomas Jackson ``T.J.'' Morgan Jr. and his wife, Tracy Hofmann Morgan, and Langhorne Andrew ``Andy'' Morgan of Virginia Beach; and two great-granddaughters, Elle and Tory Morgan. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Kathryn L. Pigg in Broad Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, on Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Broad Street United Methodist Church Perpetual Memorial Fund.
