Marie Zirbs Phillips, 82, died Saturday Sept. 14, 1996, in her residence.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Elkins, W.Va., and was a retired owner and operator of Avalon Market and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Bieth Zirbs and was preceded in death by her husband, Courtney Lane Phillips.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Ann Jensen of Chesapeake, Lorraine Culpepper of Portsmouth, Elaine P. Gregory of Columbia, N.C.; a brother, Harry A. Zirbs of Elkins; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church by Father Terry Collins. Burial will follow in the Austin Cemetery, Kitty Hawk. A prayer service and visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Twiford Funeral Home. Twiford Colony Chapel Manteo is handling arrangements.
