EDWARD J. GRANT

Mr. Edward James Grant, 62, formerly of Virginia Beach, beloved father and grandfather, died Sept. 12, 1996.

Mr. Grant was a retired lieutenant commander for 20 years in the Navy and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served most of his duty as an officer aboard the submarines USS Bonefish and the USS George Bancroft.

Mr. Grant graduated from Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, Ind. and received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. Mr. Grant was an avid sports fan and officiated high school and community sports in the Hampton Roads area for more than 15 years. He was a former member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, and was a current member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Munster, Ind.

He is survived by his mother, Grace M. Grant of Munster; his daughters, Megan Hughes, and her husband Joel, Bridget Grant, Tara Grant, all of Virginia Beach; his sons, Michael Grant and his wife, Ellin, of Dallas, Texas; Kevin Grant, Joseph Grant, Sean Grant and his wife, Jody, all of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Shannon Hughes and Dylan Grant of Virginia Beach; his sisters, Mary Catherine Georgas of Crown Point, Ind., Grace Cataldi of Dyer, Ind., Lee Bates of Dallas; and his aunt, Mabelle Durand of Munster.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8501 Calumet Ave., Munster, Ind. 46321. Burns-Kish Funeral Home, Munster, is handling arrangements.
