Mr. Harold Eugene Bowers Sr., 66, of 180 D.J. Drive, died Friday Sept. 13, 1996, at his residence.
He was born in Rockingham County, N.C., on June 29, 1930, to the late Joel Maxwell and Eulala Armstrong Bowers. A graduate of East Carolina University, he retired as branch manager after 35 years service with the North Carolina Probation and Parole Department. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Elizabeth City, N.C., and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
On Sept. 14, 1985, he married Jo Anne Woodward Bowers, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Harold Eugene Bowers Jr. of Hertford, N.C., Bryan Keith Bowers of Elizabeth City; a daughter, Miss Cindy Bowers of Elizabeth City; six grandchildren, Andi JcJunkin, Jayme McJunkin, Samatha McJunkin, Johnathon Adams, all of Statesville, and Bryan and Melissa Bowers of Elizabeth City.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in New Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Bunch-Johnson Funeral is handling arrangements. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, P.O. Box 822, Statesville, N.C. 28677.
