CHARLES C. NIXON JR.

Charles Christopher Nixon Jr., 73, died Sept. 12, 1996, at Chesapeake General Hospital.

Born in Wilmington, N.C., he was the son of Charles C. and Westa Porter Nixon. Retired from NASA, Mr. Nixon was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Sigma Chi alumnus, and a World War II Navy pilot. He was also an active member of St. Andrews By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, The Civil Air Patrol and QB.

Surviving are three daughters, Gaynelle Stamm of Fairburn, Ga., Melanie McCracken of Fayetteville, Ga., and Candice Back of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a son, Charles C. Nixon III of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Gaynelle Lynch of Wilton, Conn.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today in St. Andrews, Nags Head. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews By-The-Sea or Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston-Salem.
