"I've been trying to win a freshwater citation award for bass for years. Now I not only get three in one year, I get two of them in one week. It don't get no better than this."
What: Baker recently caught largemouth bass weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces and 6-14. He had a 6-8 bass earlier this summer. All three met the state's 22-inch requirement for a citation award.
Where: Baker caught all three fish at Lake Whitehurst, a City of Norfolk water-supply reservoir on the southwest side of Shore Drive near Diamond Springs Road.
How: All three fish were tricked by Texas-rigged plastic worms on 3/0 hooks and cast into the shallows from a Shimano spinning reel with 10-pound-test line. He used a 1/16-ounce sinker.
Personal: Baker, 41, is a supervisor with E. Caligari & Sons, painting contractors in Norfolk. He and his wife Judy Ann live in the East Lynn section off Azalea Garden Road. They have two daughters, ages 10 and 21. MEMO: Would you like to nominate someone for Angler of the Week? Call
