CONSERVATIVE author, television personality and radio talk-show host Michael Medved should feel welcome in Virginia Beach on Tuesday when he addresses an interfaith prayer breakfast as part of the 23rd annual Neptune Festival.
The resort city is the home of The Family Channel and the Christian Coalition, which share values with Medved. ``I'm really worried about what Hollywood is doing to our kids,'' Medved said while taking a break from his daily radio show on KVI in Seattle.
In Virginia Beach, he'll likely expound on what he calls the ``destructive tendencies'' of motion picture producers and what impact their violent films are having on society. He addressed that subject in his 1993 book ``Hollywood vs. America.''
Medved has written six other books. He's the man who first upset Hollywood with his Golden Turkey awards. The Yale grad - his bio says his classmates included Bill and Hillary Clinton - is perhaps best known as co-host of PBS's ``Sneak Previews,'' for which he expects to begin production for the new season soon. He's been with the show for 12 years.
Also to be discussed here by Medved will be the short attention span of TV watchers as opposed to the long attention span of churchgoers. ILLUSTRATION: Graphic
