ZILPHA MILLER

Zilpha ``Babe'' Miller, 89, died Sept. 13, 1996 in Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Miller, a native of San Jose, Calif., was the widow of Norvelle ``Bob'' Miller. She was a member of the Daughters of the Pioneer of California. She raised six children in the San Francisco Bay area where she and her husband owned a restaurant on the San Francisco Bay. Upon retiring, they lived at Capitola by the Sea, Calif. She lived her most of her life in California, moving to Virginia Beach four years ago to be with her daughter Diane J. Owens. For the last eight months she was under the loving care of Lynn Shores Manor Rest Home and her friend Becky Maher.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane J. Owens of Virginia Beach and Virginia Ryan of Seattle, Wash.; four sons, Robert Miller of Roseville, Calif., William Mortimer Miller of San Francisco, Ernest Mason of Mount Vernon, Ky., and James Mason of Vacaville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being called Granda Babe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Mortimer Cook Vennum and her stepmother, Luella Nevada Bear.

Services will be held at the family plot in Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
