DR. OSCAR E. CORDLE II

Dr. Oscar E. Cordle II, 68, beloved husband and father, died Sept. 15, 1996, at a local hospital from complications of prostate cancer.

A graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, he practiced in Virginia Beach for 37 years. After graduating from the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, he served two years in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid golfer and leaves many friends at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club, where he was a past club champion. He was also past president of the Virginia Beach Exchange Club and was one of its longest-sustaining members.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jean Cordle; his daughter, Kimberly Cordle Smith; a son-in-law, Edward Curtis Smith; and a sister, Lois Cordle Beaver of Atlanta, Ga.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, the Oceana Fire Department or the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank all personnel at the East Wing and the fourth floor at Virginia Beach General Hospital for their compassion in time of need.
