ELLA F. JOHNSON

Ella F. Johnson of the 800 block of Washington Ave. departed this life at 10:10 p.m. on Sept. 12, 1996.

She was born to the late Herbert and Mary Frances Tillery Hines on Aug. 12, 1927, in Halifax County, N.C. She moved to Norfolk at an early age. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thurman and Robert Hines, and one sister, Geneva Powell.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Barney Johnson; a son, Johnny Johnson of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Delores (Oscar) Green of Leland, N.C.; a grandson, Delton Johnson of Wilmington, N.C.; a granddaughter, Rhonda Jones of Norfolk; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise (Haywood) Phillips of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Roy (Arary) Hines of Norfolk; two devoted nieces, Pearl Crosland of Virginia Beach and Mary Hines of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Mrs. Porter.

A funeral, officiated by Minister Calvin Thomas, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Graves Funeral Home Chapel, Norfolk. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the home of the Reeses, 5329 Kindlewood Drive, Virginia Beach, Cypress Point.
