Talmadge Holmes Tugwell, 71, of the 1300 block of Gabriel Drive, died Sept. 14, 1996.
A native of East Lake, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John P. and Bertie Creef Holmes. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Helen Holmes Hobbs.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, James Walston Tugwell; four loving daughters, Debra T. Woodell of Norfolk, Colleen T. Oster of Westminster, Md., Kathy T. Asby of Herndon, Va., and Jaye P. Tugwell of Norfolk; a sister, Joyce Holmes Bell of Havelock, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. The Rev. Billy Webb of Rocky Mount, N.C., nephew of Mrs. Tugwell, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
