MUSIC LIVES ON

It saddened me to hear that Bill Monroe had passed away (``Bill Monroe, father of bluegrass. . . , dies,'' Sept. 10). I grew up with his records. I've admired him and his work for years. I still have all of his 33 1/3 records, with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs.

I will miss him greatly. I never had the pleasure of meeting him. As long as I have his records, his memory will live on.
