GEORGE L. COX

George Leon Cox, 57, of the 2600 block of Woodland Ave., died Sept. 13, 1996, at his residence.

A native of Norfolk, he was a mechanic for Virginia International Terminals for 26 years. Mr. Cox was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, participating in the Male Usher Board and The Brotherhood. Also he was a life member of the NAACP, ILA 1248.

Survivors include his wife, Inez P. Cox; two sons, Trent L. Cox and Gerard M. Cox of Norfolk; three sisters, Eleanor Carlies and Hazel Johnson of Norfolk, and Orgia Gore of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Joseph Cox and Horace Cox of Norfolk; grandchildren, Gerrell M. Cox, Rafiqk Baskerville, Christian J. Cox of Norfolk; six sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Friends may join the family at the residence. The body will be taken to church at 10 a.m. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
