Michael Anthony ``Tony'' Gardner, 39, of the 100 block of Springfield Terrace, died Sept. 15, 1996, in his home.

He was the son of the late Jane Mathias Perry and Alva C. Perry. He was a member of the Suffolk Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he served on the board of deacons and as a trustee. He also was the outpost commander for the Royal Rangers and the conference training coordinator.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Johnson Gardner; a daughter, Casey O'Neil Gardner; two sons, Michael Anthony Gardner Jr., Joseph Andrew Gardner, all of the home; a brother, Bruce Allen Gardner of Suffolk; and a stepbrother, Al Perry of Carrsville.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Suffolk Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Norwood Starling, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
