Mr. Thomas Charles Currie, 41, died Sept. 14, 1996, from complications due to AIDS at the home of his sister, Joan, and brother-in-law, Jeff Simon, in Sandbridge.
Mr. Currie was a resident of New York City and Virginia Beach. He received a B.A. in Asian Studies from Columbia University, New York City. He was most recently employed for three years as a computer network engineer with HMS Solutions, New York City. He was a member of the American Translators Association, for the Japanese language. Tom's great passion was gourmet cooking, which he did both professionally in New York City and socially for his friends and family. That passion was a hallmark of Tom's gregarious and generous personality.
Survivors include his companion for life, Mr. Douglas Tracey of New York City; his parents, Henry T. and Janice M. Currie of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Carol Bosler, and her husband, Tim Bosler, Joan P. Simon and her husband, Jeff Simon, Kelly St. Clair and her husband, Steve St. Clair, all of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Paul M. Currie and his wife, Karen Pearson, of Norfolk, Mass.; James Currie and companion, Barbara Beddow, of Virginia Beach; grandmother, Louisa Curran of Norfolk, Mass., and Virginia Beach; Other survivors include his most treasured friend, Robert Sandla of New York; nieces and nephews, Gabrielle ``Melissa,'' Dennis ``Denny,'' and Jeffrey Simon, Marc, Michael, and Mitchell St. Clair, Kate Pearson and Charles Currie, Jennifer Bosler, great-niece, Miranda Marcum, and so many dear friends in New York and around the world.
A private burial will be at a later date. A memorial gathering with family and friends will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at his sister's residence in Sandbridge, 2829 Wood Duck Drive, Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, please take someone special in your life and make a special memory, as that is what we will always have: special memories of Tom.
