Ruth Harris Pugh, 88, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 1996, at the Mayview Convalescent Center, Raleigh, N.C.
She was a homemaker and the daughter of the late Gardner Beverly and Annie Roach Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Harrison Pugh and was a member of the Centerville Baptist Church, Chesapeake, where she taught Sunday School for 25 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Francis Ann Griffin and her husband, Luther, both of Raleigh; her son, Robert E. Pugh and his wife, Denise, both of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Olive Smith of Chesapeake; seven granddaughters; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Centerville Baptist Church, Chesapeake, today at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ron Rowe. Burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church social hall for a celebration of her life and a luncheon. Twiford Funeral Home, Great Bridge, Chesapeake is handling all arrangements.
