JOHN W. SPROUSE

John Willoughby Sprouse, 85, died Sept. 17, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.

He resided in the Virginia Home for Adults where he was lovingly taken care of. He was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy and was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jessie Elizabeth Sprouse. He was a native of Braymer, Mo., and a member of Believers Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sister, Harriett Fortel of Leesprings, Mo.; a brother, Don Sprouse and his wife, Thelma, of Braymer; nine nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Pat Spindler, Shirley Burton, Sarah Lindsey and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wilkins.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday by the Rev. G. Scott Ranck in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. Entombent will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
