Michael T. Garrity, 43, of 91 Mohawk Road, died Sept. 16, 1996, of cancer, in his residence.
Born in Norfolk, he was a insulation mechanic. He was a member of West Park Church of Christ. A member of Chesapeake Athletic Club, he was involved in sports and other activities.
He is survived a son, Christian T. Garrity of Norfolk; mother, Sara B. Stone of Melbourne, Fla.; stepfather, Harry C. Stone of Melbourne; three sisters, Rhonda Cherry, Pamela Garrity, Sandy Thompson; a brother, Richard J. Garrity Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Hampton and their son, Samuel; three uncles, Donald L. Thompson of Virginia Beach, John B. Thompson of Ft. Myers, Fla., Benjamin T. Thompson of Nags Head, N.C.; and girlfriend, Laura Younger and her daughter, Jessica, of Norfolk.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Keith Lewis in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family will be at the funeral home today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
