A FUTURE GENERATION AT RISK

Today I had the unfortunate experience to read in my newspaper about the death of a friend's child. Although this is a newsworthy ``item,'' it pains me to have to read about it. So many children are losing their lives at such a young age.

It appears to me that there is a rising trend in juvenile deaths. Between drugs,

gangs, guns and God knows what else, we are slowly killing our future generations and our country.

When I grew up, the major problems with teen-agers were driving too fast, underage drinking and marijuana. Now I have to worry whether my children are going to get date-raped, smoke crack or get shot while at the mall.

What is happening in our country? Where have the morals and values of yesterday gone?

President Clinton and Bob Dole have these grand plans to curb violence and drugs in our country. The American people have been hearing this same thing for years now, and I still haven't seen anything happen to improve it.

I want to see some results from all the hogwash our politicians are feeding us before we finish destroying what more than two centuries of hard work and determination has built - America.
