Margaret Cooke Hughes, 93, of the 1300 block of Five Forks Road, died Sept. 18, 1996.
She was born in Norfolk and graduated from Maury High School in 1920. She retired after 30 years of civil service in 1970 as a budget analyst GS-12 with DA USCONARC at Fort Monroe, Va. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church.
She was predeceased by her parents, William C. and Mollie Murphy Cooke; a sister, Louise Cooke Beil; two brothers, William V. and Richard E. Cooke.
She is survived by her son, William C. and Susan Hughes of Virginia Beach; a grandson, Dr. William C. and Carina Hughes of Galax, Va.; three granddaughters, Susan M. Hughes of Williamsburg, Va., Marianna H. and David Boyd of Virginia Beach; Christine H. and Rodger Brown of Horsham, Pa.; five great-grandchildren; two nieces, Betty Beil of Virginia Beach, Mary Anne DeMaria of Miami, Fla; a nephew, John G. Beil of Lanexa, Va.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Robert F. Pittman III. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends at the residence. Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, is handling arrangements.
