HEY, NEED FUNDS for college? Know a teen-ager who's a great volunteer? Look at the info below:

Black Opal Achiever Awards: BioCosmetics Research Labs, marketers of Black Opal skin-care products, is offering 25 scholarships for graduating high school students. High school students who've already applied to a four-year college or university are eligible for the $2,000 scholarships.

1997 Discover Card Tribute Award Program: Discover Card Services and the American Association of School Administrators are working together to award scholarships to high school juniors.

The sixth annual Tribute Award Program offers individual scholarships of up to $22,500 and awards at least nine scholarships for each state, Washington D.C., and American schools abroad. Nine national scholarship winners will be selected among the state winners.

A minimum 2.75 grade point average is required.

Scholarship packets should be available through your high school's guidance office or write to AASA at P.O. Box 9338, Arlington, Va. 22219. Applications must be received by Jan. 10, 1997.

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards: The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, sponsored by The Prudential Insurance Company of America and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honor students enrolled in grades 5-12 and excelling in community service.

The programs recognize two students in each state - one middle-school age and one high school - and culminates in the naming of America's top 10 youth volunteers of the year next May.

The state winners will receive a silver medallion, $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. Finalists will also be recognized.

National honorees will receive an additional $5,000, a gold medallion, and a crystal trophy for the school.

Any public or private school may participate by naming one school honoree for every 1,500 enrolled students.
