Anna Mae Ridley Branch died Wednesday Sept. 18, 1996, in Norfolk General Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Branch was a native of Newsoms. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and the chorus. She was also on the Missionary Board and was a founding member of the Sunday School at Monroe Chapel Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Racheal Hoskie of Norfolk; two sons, Waddel Howell and Donaldson Howell of Newsoms; a great-granddaughter that she helped raise, Tawanna Silver of Norfolk; two sisters, Clara Barnes and Edith Mae Blue, both of Portsmouth; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of good friends.
A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Elvin Vaughn Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Newsoms, by the Rev. George Futrell. Burial will be in Monroe Chapel.
