FRANCES T. DRUM

Frances Scott Troutman Drum, 71, of 103 Second St. N.W., died Sept. 18, 1996 at Huntersville Oaks Retirement Home, Huntersville, N.C.

Mrs. Drum was born March 8, 1925 in Catawba County. She was a daughter of the late John T. Troutman and Annie Witherspoon Troutman. She was a retired purchasing agent for Naval Supply Depot, Norfolk. Mrs. Drum was a member of Catawba United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and served as organist for 10 years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, a charter member of Eastern Star Catawba Chapter 124 and a member of Post Polio Group (Hickory Chapter).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon A. Drum; two brothers, W.P. Troutman and Thomas Troy Troutman; a sister, Rena Alvin, and a half- brother, Garland Troutman.

Survivors include a sister, Janette T. Lovell of Catawba; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Earl (Patricia) Hutchens, Mrs. Michael (Betty) Spizzirri, both of Chesapeake, Mrs. Dennis (Donna) McCracken of Little Rock, Ark.; two nephews, Thomas D. Setzer of Charlotte, N.C., John Alvin, of North Ridge, Calif.; two nieces; Rebecca T. Steele of Charlotte, Suzanne Alvin, of Los Angeles; five step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Ron Allen at 2 p.m. Saturday in Catawba United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 today at the church.

Pallbearers will be Fred Pope, Joe Beamon, David Hunsucker, Steve Beal, Jack Williams, Steve Penley, Mitchell Setzer and Brad Moser. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Bible Class and Eastern Star Catawba Chapter 124. Memorials may be made to: Catawba United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 186, Catawba, N.C., 28609. Drum Funeral Home, Conover, is in charge of arrangements.
