CLARENCE C. MILLER SR.

Clarence C. Miller Sr., of the 5400 block of Poplar Hall Drive, died Sept. 14, 1996, in a local hospital.

Mr. Miller was a professor of English at Norfolk State University and was a native of Jefferson, S.C. He was a member of St. John AME Church and was a trustee, Sunday school teacher and church choir member. He also was a member of Phi Beta Sigma.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Miller; a daughter, Jocelyn Webb of Newark, Del.; sons, Clarence Conrad Miller Jr. of Flemington, N.J., Edward Douglas Miller of Virginia Beach, and Timothy E. Miller of Norfolk; a sister, Dorothy Shaw of Bronx, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. John AME Church by the Rev. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Friends may join the family at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Clarence and Bernice Miller Scholarship Fund at St. John AME Church, Bute St., Norfolk. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
