James D. Ambrose, 79, of the 8000 block of Wedgewood Drive, died Sept. 18, 1996, in Salem, Va.
A retired pipefitter for NOB Norfolk, Mr. Ambrose was a native of Washington County, N.C. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie B. Ambrose; a daughter, Sandra Clifton of Penhook, Va.; a son, Larry Ambrose, and his wife, Beverly, of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mollie Anne Comer of Chesapeake; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James B. Ambrose.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Rosewood Memorial Park by Minister Ted R. Clifton. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. The family will receive friends at the residence.
