TOO MUCH JURIS, NO PRUDENCE

I am writing in regard to the Sept. 14 article, ``He's proved he's not the father, but still he has to pay.''

The judge ruled without hearing witnesses, since there were no disputes about the facts. A juvenile-court ruling that required the man to pay child support must stand, in spite of the fact that evidence clearly proved he was not the biological father.

The jurisprudence of this decision is legal precedent. Since a previous judge said it was so it must be so.

Way too much juris and not one iota of prudence.

Remember when we could still pledge allegiance to the flag in school? What has happened to that final line ``with liberty and justice for all''? Oh yes, I remember now. . . . It doesn't make any difference if it is honest, or proper, or ethical. All that matters is ``is it legal?''
