BATTERED AUSTIN DRIVES NORVIEW TO 24-14 VICTORY

Senior Larry Austin dominated the Oscar Smith-Norview matchup, scoring three touchdowns to pace Norview to a 24-14 victory.

Too bad he can't remember it.

Austin raced 135 yards on 20 carries and scored on runs of 2, 8 and 4 yards before leaving the game with a slight concussion. After the game, he struggled to recall his stellar performance.

``It was a good game. I know I scored two touchdowns,'' Austin said with a laugh. ``We knew we just had to come and play. The seniors had to step up. I had great blocking from the line.''

The conversion attempt on Austin's opening touchdown failed, allowing Oscar Smith to tie the game with Lavaughn Rice's 3-yard run. The kick was wide, leaving the game knotted at 6.

The Tigers' William Fuller broke the tie with 7:37 remaining in the second with a 10-yard run. Lavar Griffin streaked across the goal-line for the two-point conversion.

But the Tigers (1-2) would not score again. Austin closed the gap to 14-12 with his second touchdown for Norview (1-2), then Richard Griffin shrugged off three defenders and legged a 30-yard scoring run to take the lead for good.

Austin's final touchdown was also followed by a failed conversion for the 24-14 final. by CNB
