Joseph Figueira Jr., 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sept. 18, 1996.
He was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church and the Men's Victory Bible Class.
He retired from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, Boston, Mass., as superintendent of surface lines. He was a member of Somerville Lodge, AF & AM. He was the son of Joseph and Emily (Vincent) Figueira.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Figueira of Virginia Beach; his son, Russell Figueira; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Figueira; two treasured grandsons, Steven Figueira and Adam Figueira, all of Brookhaven, Pa.; and three sisters, Ida Gomes of Hialeah, Fla., Clarice Hutchinson of Melrose, Mass., and Georgia Noonan of Melrose, Mass.
Burial will be Monday in National Cemetery, Cape Cod, Mass. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church Chapel.
