EDWARD B. COPELAND

Edward B. Copeland, 66, of the 100 block of Fairfield Ave., died Sept. 20, 1996, in his home.

Born in Perquimans County, N.C., Mr. Copeland retired as owner of the Lakeside Shell. He was a member of Somerton Friends Meeting and McAllister Masonic Lodge (NU)185. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth M. Copeland; a daughter, Alice Bailor of Suffolk; four sons, Donnie C. Copeland of Fredericksburg, Va., Ronnie L. Copeland, William E. Copeland, both of Suffolk, and Mike R. Copeland of Windsor, Va.; five sisters, Diane Alexander, Loretta Horne, Elizabeth Bunch, Margaret Ashley and Patty Hurt; seven brothers, Valand Copeland Jr., Gene W. Copeland, Jimmy Copeland, Joey Copeland, David Copeland, Chris Copeland, Carl M. Vick; seven grandchildren, Kelly L. Williams, Ronnie Copeland Jr., Karen D. Daughtry, Brett Copeland, Tiffany Copeland, Rachel Bailor and Grant Copeland; his stepmother, Josephine Copeland of Suffolk; two great-grandchildren, Michael Williams and Christopher Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mozelle Dale Copeland and Valand Copeland.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Hershel Hill and the Rev. Billy Ray Boyd. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may join the family in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at other times in the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O.
