Gladys O. Shipp, 89, of the 400 block of East Farmington Road, died Sept. 22, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Shipp was born in Princess Anne County and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Ohlinger. She was preceded in death by her sons, William Harold Shipp Jr. and Douglas Warren Shipp. She was a former member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach. Mrs. Shipp also was a member and past president of the Cavalier Garden Club and a former member of the Princess Anne Country Club.
Survivors include her husband, William Harold Shipp; a grandson, William Harold Shipp III of Suffolk; and a great-grandson, Brandon Tudor Shipp of Newport News.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Donald J. Dunlap. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451.
