JACK M. CORNELIUS SR.

Retired Navy Capt. Jack M. Cornelius Sr., of the 2500 block of Broad Bay Road, died Sept. 21, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Capt. Cornelius retired from the Navy in 1978, having served with distinction for 34 years. He was a native of Plainview, Texas, attended Wayland Baptist College and graduated from the University of Rhode Island, Newport. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce P. Cornelius; a son, J. Marc Cornelius of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Ellen C. Morgan and her husband, Peyton L. Morgan, of Lynchburg; a brother, William M. Cornelius, and his family of Temple, Texas; and many relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road. Services will be held at Munford Funeral Home with burial in Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford, Tenn. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to any SPCA or a favorite charity.
