WALTER M. LAUGHON SR.

Walter M. Laughon Sr., 78, of the 300 block of Mohican Court, died Sept. 22, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.

A life-time resident of Portsmouth, he was retired from N.A.S.A. as a contract specialist. He was the widower of Mary Harrington Laughon and a member of Westside Christian Church. He attended Elon College and was former director of The Beazley Community Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Laughon of Norfolk, Gwendolyn Pell of Virginia Beach; a son, Walter M. Laughon Jr. of Portsmouth; a brother, Ralph Laughon of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Mary Webb, Michael Owens, Kimberly Kysar; four great-grandchildren, Christine Webb, Linda and Traci Owens and Ashley Kysar.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Norman E. Hancock in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
